A: Communities In Schools was founded in Jacksonville in 1989 and began working in its first school, Jefferson Davis High School, in January of 1991.

A: Communities in Schools’ administrative offices are at 3100 University Blvd. South in Jacksonville, FL. However, the majority of our employees are embedded in more than 60 Duval County schools.

A: Communities In Schools receives federal, state and city funding from organizations such as the Jacksonville Children’s Commission, the City of Jacksonville, the United Way of Northeast Florida,the Community Foundation, Duval County Public Schools, AT&T, the Communities In Schools’ national office and the Jaguars Foundation. Other sources of funding include donations from business and citizens within the Jacksonville community.
